Interim Executive Director Announced (continued)
My Texas educator career includes Title I teacher in Pecos;  curriculum writer and teacher trainer for day care providers in Austin; Professor at Sul Ross State University; Elementary Principal in Bronte; Director of Title I and Bilingual/ESL in Victoria; Executive Director for Elementary Operations and Special Programs in Lancaster and Superintendent of San Vicente ISD.
Since retirement, I have served as an Adjunct Professor for Sul Ross State University supervising student teachers and principal interns.  As part of the Texas Education Agency program to work with schools designated as Improved Required, I serve as a Professional Service Provider.  These opportunities to share the diverse experiences of my career in helping educators is especially rewarding.
In addition to these positions, I have served as President of the Texas Council of Women School Executives, President of the Texas Association Rural schools and as a Board member and Honorary Life Member on the Texas Association of Community Schools. My experiences have spanned the challenges presented to community schools, suburban and urban schools; hence, I will be able to relate to the needs and challenges of the school personnel we serve.
As your Executive Director, I will focus my efforts on working with members and continuing to strengthen the professional benefits of being a member of ACET.  I, and the organization, will support every effort members make to assure a quality education and a successful future for all Texas children.

Respectfully dedicated to serve,
Shirley Marie Coleman
